RARE JUVENIA ART DECO WATCH-RING

650,00 €

Here we present a very rare Juvenia watch ring made around the 1930s or 1940s.

Founded in 1860 by Jacques Didisheim-Goldschmidt in Saint-Imier, Juvenia is one of the historic manufacturers of Swiss watchmaking. Emerging from the Didisheim-Goldschmidt company, the brand later moved to La Chaux-de-Fonds, a hub of watchmaking, where it developed an identity marked by aesthetic exploration and technical innovation. Very early on, Juvenia distinguished itself with original creations blending watchmaking and jewelry, particularly in the 1920s and 1930s, a period during which jewelry watches experienced a significant boom.

The watch ring presented here perfectly embodies this spirit. Crafted from steel, it features a design inspired by the Art Deco style, characterized by balanced geometric lines and understated elegance. This type of piece is part of a distinct watchmaking tradition: transforming the timekeeping instrument into a true piece of jewelry.

The dial, of modest dimensions, is animated by slender blued hands—a traditional process that involves heating the steel to achieve this deep blue hue while enhancing the metal’s resistance to oxidation. This detail, common in high-quality watchmaking of the early 20th century, provides a subtle contrast with the dial and enhances the piece’s refined character.

This piece is a testament to the manufacturer’s creativity and its interest in unconventional designs. Intended for a clientele seeking both elegance and originality, this Juvenia watch-ring is a fascinating example of the fusion between traditional Swiss watchmaking and the decorative design of the interwar period, a time when the watch gradually became as much a fashion accessory as a precision instrument. It is powered by a Juvenia manual-winding mechanical movement. The ring is adjustable and is in its original condition.
