SARCAR WATCH GENEVA CA. 1960
350,00 €
Carlo Sarzano founded Sarcar in Genève in 1948 and is still active today.
Carlo had worked for many years for the most prestigious Swiss brands and was a representative of these great brands for Italy and Spain.
Carlo Sarzano, however, had other ambitions. With the precision and quality of his products, he wanted to combine his own style and decided to create his own brand. He began by looking for a factory capable of carrying out his plans. He soon found one, a factory founded in 1919, "Manufacture des montres Niton", which he bought and transformed to meet his needs.
He then began to develop his "Collection" piece by piece and presented it to his customers. He simultaneously attacked the world market and, thanks to the unique style and quality of his pieces, this led to his rapid expansion. Constant creation is the motto of Sarcar owner Carlo Sarzano.
For Europa Star magazine in 1967, he declared: - I'm a living mistake. The grain of sand that makes the best-tuned machinery creak. I've always been told that you can't succeed in the Swiss watchmaking industry without at least four generations of ancestors behind you, with a magnifying glass. I don't have any watchmaking ancestors, and I started out penniless, selling watches made by others.
Carlo Sarzano was convinced at the time that a watch sells more because it's beautiful than because it has a technically refined movement. In fact, as far as SARCAR is concerned, the quality of the movement is traditionally perfect, and is not even discussed at sales.
- Freed from the need to compare the quality of one movement with another, customers focus all their attention on the aesthetics of the models they receive. In this respect, SARCAR makes a remarkable effort. For years, our brand has been constantly at the forefront of innovation. Our pieces, often appearing at first glance to be revolutionary and overly daring, almost always prove over time that they are simply cutting-edge and in line with what the public will love in the months and years to come.
This model features a dial and case with a "bark" finish. The whole is in fair condition for its age, with a few imperfections in the plating due to age. The watch is powered by a Swiss-made hand-wound mechanical movement. An unusual piece, from a small series by a small manufacturer among the big ones.
