LITHOGRAPH OMEGA WATCHES BY RENÉ VINCENT CA. 1920

650,00 €

Superb and rare original lithograph by René Vincent dating from the 1920s.

At the heart of the Roaring Twenties, the world of luxury and modernity was expressed through a new aesthetic: Art Deco. Among the artists who embodied this spirit, René Vincent (1879-1936) occupies a singular place. A renowned illustrator, poster artist and advertiser, he lent his talent to a number of major French and international brands, including Omega, a symbol of watchmaking innovation and refinement.

In the 1920s, René Vincent brought to life the idea of modern, precise and dynamic time. His posters for Omega reflect a vision that is both elegant and resolutely contemporary: stylized silhouettes, clean lines, play on movement and bold typography. The harmonious tension between speed and precision, mechanics and beauty, which characterizes the spirit of the decade, is evident.

In these compositions, Omega watches are more than just measuring instruments: they become symbols of social modernity. The men and women he depicts embody a world in motion - that of automobiles, aviation and urban leisure. At the time, the creation of advertising posters was a veritable art form. René Vincent's images were reproduced using the color lithography technique, a process that dominated artistic and commercial production from 1910-1930. Each shade required a separate lithographic stone, engraved by hand and then meticulously aligned during the print run.

This craftsmanship offered exceptional chromatic quality: deep solids, subtle nuances and incomparable luminosity. The rendering of Vincent's Omega posters testifies to this mastery: bright reds, intense blues and fine shadows underline both the precision of the watch and the modernity of the graphics.

With an acute sense of stagecraft, he succeeded in giving the Omega watch an emotional dimension: that of style, progress and the mastery of time. These images, at the crossroads of art and advertising, helped forge the brand's visual identity, and today remain precious witnesses to the encounter between watch design and the graphic art of the time. A rare item.
