SARCAR Genève CLOCK CIRCA 1950

SOLD

A table clock, a rare object signed by the Sarcar house.

Carlo Sarzano founded Sarcar in Genève in 1948 and is still active today.

Carlo had worked for many years for the most prestigious Swiss brands and was a representative of these great brands for Italy and Spain.

Carlo Sarzano, however, had other ambitions. With the precision and quality of his products, he wanted to combine his own style and decided to create his own brand. He began by looking for a factory capable of carrying out his plans. He soon found one, a factory founded in 1919, " Manufacture des montres Niton", which he bought and sold. which he bought and transformed to meet his needs.

He then began to develop his "Collection" piece by piece and presented it to his customers. He simultaneously attacked the world market and, thanks to the unique style and quality of his pieces, this led to his rapid expansion.

This model features a silver dial with the Sarcar logo and the "Swiss 8" indication. Everything is original, and the watch is in generally good condition. The brass case shows traces of oxidation due to age, which is absolutely normal on this type of material. The watch is powered by a Swiss-made 8-day mechanical movement. The date is "rapid", changing by means of a small lever.

The additional particularity of this piece is that it is engraved with the name of Sauter Laboratories in Genève. It is difficult to say whether it is a present offered to a pharmacist or a product that is part of their furniture.

The Sauter Laboratories in Genève seem to be the oldest pharmaceutical industry in French-speaking Switzerland. Indeed, in the second half of the last century, their founder, the pharmacist Albert Sauter, had the idea of manufacturing various products that he first sold in his "Pharmacie des Alpes" in Genève, but which soon spread to his fellow pharmacists all over the world.

A very nice copy, decorative and historical.
