UNIVERSAL GENÈVE ELECTRIC CLOCK CIRCA 1960

An elegant and absolutely rare Universal Genève table clock. This is an exceptionally beautiful, well-proportioned and elegant clock.

Universal Genève is a Swiss luxury watch company founded in 1894 under the name Universal Watch. Since its inception, the company has produced complete watches with in-house movements and, throughout the 20th century, has distributed many remarkable and important timepieces.

Along with neighboring Genève-based companies Audemars Piguet, Girard-Perregaux, Patek Philippe and Rolex, Universal is internationally recognized for its style of craftsmanship and manufacturing. In addition, the brand historically claims to have created the very first chronographic wristwatch in 1917.

The dial is white here, with indexes included in a brass colored groove ring and date at 6 o'clock.

The dial is marked "Universal Genève" in the upper part and "Précision Electric" in the lower part. The dial as a whole and in particular its so-called dauphine hands are very clean for the age of the object.

The case, asymmetrical in width and height, is a metal base, with a "scarified" effect rim in a satin gold color. There is some wear on the case commensurate with age, but nothing that detracts from the overall beauty. The clock was made in Switzerland. It is stamped with the reference 5642. Given its weight of about 700 grams, it could eventually serve as a paperweight.

The watch is powered by an electric movement running on a 9 volt square battery. A setting is possible as indicated on the clock motor: 1 DIV= 10S/24H

Overall, a beautiful and rare reference.

A chic and elegant clock that will make a certain effect in your home.
