JAEGER-LECOULTRE CATALOG BY PIERRE PRAQUIN, CA. 1958
150,00 €
The brand needs no introduction, but in 1937, following several years of a successful partnership initiated by Antoine LeCoultre and Edmond Jaeger, the brand name Jaeger-LeCoultre was officially adopted.
This collaboration gave birth to a number of well-known watchmaking classics, including the Atmos clock, the Reverso, the Memovox alarm watch and the Polaris, to name but a few.
Here we present a very rare copy, in near-mint condition, of a Jaeger-LeCoultre brochure featuring a selection of approximately 40 of the brand’s timepieces, intended for the French market.
The original price list is included in the catalog; everything appears to date from the late 1950s.
In fact, the cover art is typical of that era and was created by Pierre Praquin.
Pierre Praquin is a relatively little-known French illustrator whose contributions to the history of illustration are primarily evident in his editorial and advertising work from the 1950s and 1960s. His work thus follows the tradition of editorial illustration, in which images complement and enrich the text.
He is also known for his work in advertising, particularly for the watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre. In the 1950s, Pierre Praquin created several illustrations for the brand’s campaigns, helping to establish an elegant and modern image for its watches. These illustrated advertisements reflect a graphic style typical of the era, blending sophistication, dramatic staging, and product promotion.
This black-and-white catalog is beautifully illustrated across eight pages spread over four sheets.
Stamped with the dealer’s seal “Au rubis Delebarre” in Charleville, it includes price lists in francs for each model in the catalog.
A true collector's item for brand lovers.
