WITTNAUER GENÈVE "SUNBEAM DIAL" WATCH, CA. 1970
490,00 €
The Wittnauer brand has maintained a close relationship with Longines since the late 19th century. As early as the 1880s, Wittnauer became the importer and distributor of Longines watches in the United States. This collaboration lasted for several decades, until Longines officially acquired Wittnauer in 1950. The two brands then shared certain movements, technologies, and distribution networks, while retaining their distinct identities.
The word “Geneva” found on certain Wittnauer watches evokes the Swiss watchmaking expertise associated with the Geneva region, one of the historic centers of watchmaking. This is not a specific collection but rather a designation intended to highlight the Swiss origin and prestige of the watch in question.
These models, produced mainly between the 1950s and 1970s, are often characterized by an elegant design, slim cases, and high-quality Swiss mechanical movements. This model is a fine example, typical of the 1970s with its multi-link Kestenmade bracelet, all in white gold plating that, depending on the watch’s position, gives it a mirror-like shine, enhanced by its blue sunburst dial. A superb piece equipped with a hand-wound movement, entirely original with its signed crown—a rarity.
