LONGINES OLYMPIAN WATCH, CA. 1975

The Longines Olympian series is a fascinating collection because it embodies Longines’ shift toward bolder designs in the run-up to the quartz crisis.

Unlike the Conquest and Flagship lines, which were long-standing mainstays, the Olympian was a more exclusive series from the 1970s. It often shared its internal components with the prestigious Ultra-Chron and Admiral series.

The name “Olympian” is more than just a marketing choice. Longines has a long history of timing the Olympic Games (dating back to 1896 in Athens). The Olympian collection was launched to celebrate its role as Official Timekeeper, particularly in connection with the 1972 Munich Games. 

This watch is in incredible condition for its age and comes with its semi-rigid, adjustable strap made by Kestenmade.
